We are so fortunate to have Performance Equine Vets in Aiken. Yesterday one of our mares went into labor with her foal in the wrong position, and it quickly became an emergency. They quickly assessed the situation and performed an emergency c-section, ultimately saving both mare and foal. We are profoundly grateful for their expertise and dedication!

Over the last 3 years I've worked with various staff members from emergency care, diagnostics services and vet supply. They were all knowledgeable, addressed my horse's needs while also being considerate of the costs involved. Everyone is so nice and accommodating at Performance which goes a long way. Truly outstanding customer service!!! I find the client portal to be extremely helpful and easy to use from paying your bills to having your animals history all in one place. Dr Jacobs has created a top notch facility!

They killed our horse. We brought our mini in the day it was determined she had colic (1 AM on a Tuesday after first being diagnosed Monday AM at feeding time). Four days later they determined she likely had both pneumonia and SEPSIS upon admittance but had not been treated for either of them until that Friday. When my wife went to visit with her on Sunday - almost a week after being admitted - she found our beloved mini wearing make shift ice bags attached to a sketchy strap - none of which was professional in its execution or approved as treatment. She didn't even have laminitis. While my wife was visiting with her our mini tripped over the ice bags and fell - going into a seizure. She stopped breathing and the attempts to revive - when they finally did attempt it after my wife screamed at them to help out multiple times - failed. We came to Performance Equine with a horse which needed intervention to get her healthy again and left with a $10,000 bill for slow, sloppy work which ultimately led to our horses' death. And the story doesn't end there. On Dec. 16th they asked my wife if they could charge the card on file for the balance of $6k. She said 'no' since it belongs to a family member who graciously gave us $1k to help defray some of the ongoing care on the Friday before she died. On 12/23 they charged that card without authorization and did not provide a paid receipt at any point (and it is now 3 days later). We will never go back to this clinic ever again and we recommend you don't either. They are slow, sloppy and shady. I've added a photo of our girl days before she got sick and from her last moment's on Earth so you can see for yourself this is real, their work is sloppy and they are not to be trusted.
